Class-sensitive Exercise Books

political-learner | beginner-intermediate

Like learning the traditional way?  Do you find your anarchism in different areas?  Sick of plodding your way through language-learning exercise books made for rich European businessmen?  Pick up a De-Colonised Language Book and learn your language in the way you will experience it.

WHAT: De-Colonised Language Books are a series of books that the IAALL has re-written to suit the people who really need to learn the language.  Instead of encountering upper-class, imperialist scenarios.  These books attempt to contextualise the language-learning experience around the real-life experiences of people who need to learn the language most.

THIS IS A CALL-OUT TO ALL LANGUAGE LEARNERS OUT THERE.  WRITE YOUR OWN EXERCISE BOOKS AND STOP LETTING THE MARKET BE CONTROLLED BY ROSETTA STONES AND DR BERLITZ.  LET DIFFERENT STORIES, DIFFERENT WORDS, DIFFERENT DIALECTS AND DIFFERENT HISTORIES BE SHOWCASED.  THINK OF THIS TASK OF PASSION AS WAY TO TEST OUT THE HYMANN TECHNIUE AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE.

EXAMPLES:

1. Here you can find an example of a Class Sensitive French Book which the Institute began working on, next to an example of a standard French exercise book.

2. In 2024 Ahilan Ratamohan stumbled upon Jeyapandian Kottalam’s “Learning Tamil by yourself” and was immediately enchanted.  Upon opening the book, which he had purchased for €10 online, he discovered that this entire book had in fact been made available online by the author for free via GoogleDocs.  As he read through the first chapters he felt touched by a book, which answered questions he’d long been trying to get his head around, and was written with a passion that transcended any commission given out by a publisher.  Mr Kottalam had clearly written this book out of pure passion.
